Some pictures from the Clone Wars series (not the movie) have made there way online and there are a bunch showing a brand new Padme costume! It's a uniform of sorts, that reminds me a bit of Leia's battle uniform in RotJ. Here are the pictures, which I've added to the Clone Wars Padme page:

Thanks to the fabulous Moons of Iego for the scans! I like this new costume a lot. It's great to see that while the Clone Wars show will focus on the Jedi, Padme will have an active role too. The series premieres in just under a month, on October 3rd, and a new trailer is online!

And here is a great new still of Padme in her Senate "Swirl" Dress from the Clone Wars movie. Love it!

So I finally saw the Clone Wars movie TODAY. I've been such a slacker - I meant to see it weeks ago. But as has been the theme of late, I've been so busy. But I managed to find time today, and I saw it, and I'm happy to say I really liked it! Minor spoilers will follow if you haven't seen it yet.

I know reaction has been mixed, but I went in not having read reviews and only expecting to be entertained, and I most definitely was. The Clone Wars is not Star Wars, the six-part, live-action epic; it's more a fun derivative of Star Wars. And I think they did a great job of making it feel like Star Wars, without it being a part of the main epic. For example, remixing the Star Wars theme and a voice-over opening crawl as opposed to having scrolling text were both creative ways to distinguish it from the movies, but still have it feel like part of the same story.

Overall, I liked the animated style of the characters and thought the animation was beautiful to look at. The story was action-packed and entertaining with some great battle moments. I loved Asajj Ventress - she's so creepy and badass. I always wanted a Sith witch in the movies, so I just love her. I liked Ahsoka - she was cute and enthusiastic, though she did have a couple of lines that were irksome (such as calling Anakin "Skyguy"- that is groan worthy).

I liked the music as well; it was a bit of a departure from the classical score of the movies, but the electric guitar/rock parts and the tribal parts fit very well and added to the energy of the movie. I was also pleasantly surprised that Padme's role was as big as it was - and she was in TPM and AotC form, being proactive and fighting, not just sitting around a la RotS. And I need to go find some good full-length shots of her senate dress!

I did have a few quibbles with the Clone Wars, though too. The way the characters lips moved didn't seem to match what they were saying always, and some of their movements were stiff. As as has been a problem with Star Wars since RotJ pretty much, some of the dialogue was pretty bad. There were definitely a few clunkers (though nothing as bad as "I don't like sand...") The pacing was also a bit choppy, though that has more to do with this movie actually being a couple of TV episodes sewn together. I think the Clone Wars will work better as a shorter TV show. And seriously, what the hell was this?

But in general, I really did like it. I thought it was a fun movie and I would recommend it to any Star Wars fan (non-Star Wars fans, not so much). And I'm definitely looking forward to watching the series this fall! Oh, and completely randomly and against my expectations, I totally love this guy.

And I've switched the poll to see what everyone's opinions on the Clone Wars was. I'm really interested to see if other fans liked it, since reviews were very mixed. Here are the results from the last poll:

I'm back from vacation and the movie is coming out tomorrow! That really snuck up on me! I'm cautiously looking forward to it - I'm trying to avoid reviews as much as possible, but it's difficult. It seems reactions to the movie is mixed, but we'll have to see for ourselves! Is anyone going to a midnight showing tonight? I, unfortunately, don't think I'll get to see it till Sunday due to work and two Red Sox games I had tickets for months and months ago.

But I'll be excited to see what you all think. Please leave your reactions to the movies in the comments! I'll be adding a poll about it too.

Hey everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the summer! I am extraordinarily busy this summer - work is crazy and I have a lot going on outside of work too. So apologies for not having tons of times for the site :( And my boyfriend is coming up soon for week and then I am going to visit him for a week, so I am going to officially put the site of a short hiatus. I'll be back August 11 or 12th, just in time so we can get all psyched for the Clone Wars movie on the 15th! Have a great few weeks everyone, and I'll see you in August!

Super exciting news today with the release of the brand new Clone Wars trailer! You absolutely must check it out. I think it looks just great - the animation is amazing, the mood is all atmospheric, the music is haunting, and it makes me so excited to see more! And there is only just over two months left until its release!

Most especially exciting about the trailer is that Padme is in it, albeit if only for about a second! Here are some high-def screencaps I made:










So she is wearing the Arena Outfit, but with the hood that was cut from AotC and which can be seen here and here. What amuses me is that the Arena Outfit was thoroughly destroyed in AotC. Padme must have liked the outfit so much that she went back and bought a new one! ;)

Lastly for tonight, I wanted to highlight two upcoming Padme products. First, the Padme Evolutions action figure set. It's always great to see new Padme action figures (even if the forearms on the Veranda Nightgown figure would rival King Kong's). The packaging for this set also includes a new (I believe) picture of the Pre-Senate gown. Thanks to Ben again for this info!

And there is also two fabulous new Star Wars fashion sets being released for Star Wars weekends in Disney World. Check out the Official Site and Endor Express for pictures. Call me five years old, but I really want both of these. They are adorable and all costume related - how can I resist?
