Star Wars: Fit for a Queen

Welcome to Star Wars: Fit for a Queen!

This is a fansite dedicated to the wonderful costumes of Padme Amidala, her handmaidens, Princess Leia, the Jedi, and many other characters in all the Star Wars movies, including the upcoming Clone Wars movie. Whether you're looking for information, pictures or beautiful fanart, you'll find it here! Enjoy your stay and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me!

New Poll and Boushh
So while it's not technically Monday anymore, I haven't gone to bed yet so it's still Monday to me and therefore my update is on time! Today, there is a new poll to your right, as you can see. Just a fun, fluffy one with some handmaiden love. (Are the accents showing up okay at the end of their names?) And here are the results from the last poll:

Which non-Padme costumes are you most interested in? [294 votes total]
Jedi and Sith (102) - 35%
Senators (60) - 20%
Palpatine (8) - 3%
Original Trilogy Characters (60) - 20%
The Naberries (44) - 15%
Other (leave a comment!) (20) - 7%

A big thanks to everyone who voted! I wasn't surprised that the Jedi and Sith won - those are some of my favorites too and will definitely be added to the site! I was surprised to see that the Original Trilogy characters were so popular, so I will be looking in to adding more of those for sure. And poor Palpy - he was my pick; I love his costumes! Even if not many people are interested in them, I'll probably add them eventually!

Also, I've added the final Leia costume: the Boushh Disguise! Not the most thrilling of costumes, perhaps, but there are some nice pictures of it, such as this one from Dressing a Galaxy and these three high-def screencaps (1, 2, 3)

Lastly, I've been slacking in the email department, so if you've sent me an email within the last two weeks or so, I haven't forgotten about you, I promise! It's just taking me some time to work through them. And really for the last thing tonight, how awesome was it that Marie Antoinette won for costume design at the Oscars last night? Those costumes are just amazing and gorgeous and I was so happy it won! It's right up there for my favorite costume movies and is definitely worth a rental if you haven't seen it already!

Update
Hello hello! Sorry this update is a bit late... I'm entering the end of the term here at school, so things are going to be a bit hectic. I have two papers and two exams coming up, so I would ask for patience in regards to my updating the site and responding to emails! Thanks for understanding!

I wanted to point out some handmaiden detail shots I forgot to mention:
Pleated Cloaks: Undershirt fabric and hood edge fabric; Cloak fabric; Velvet skirt; Unknown gray fabric; Unknown dark fabric

That's all I have for today, but a more substansial update and a new poll will be coming tomorrow afternoon!

Padme Details
I scanned all the detail shots from the Dressing a Galaxy swatchbook - there are some really interesting pictures of the fabrics used in Padme's gowns! I've identified them as best I could, but I can't quite figure out all of them (so any suggestions/insight are very welcome!) I tried to get the color as accurate as possible, but it's not 100% exact. I would suggest checking out the great exhibit pictures at the Padawan's Guide to get some close-ups to see where these fabrics are in the gowns!

Peacock Gown: Unknown brown fabric, blue pleated underdress, brown velvet overcoat; Unknown brown fabric; Black leather headdress lining
Green Robe: Unknown blue/black fabric, purple sleeve lining; Green robe velvet; Unknown green fabric; Purple sash (I think)
Revelation Gown: Purple underdress fabric, unknown speckled fabric; Overcoat velvet; Sleeve and neck beading
Refugee Disguise: Burgundy coat fabric, embroidered dress grosgrain; Yoke and cuff embroidered grosgrain; Grosgrain sans embroidery; Lace veil; Unknown gold fabric
Wedding Dress: Bedspread lace; Scrollwork; Lace at bottom of oversleeves
Escape From Naboo: Black velvet skirt, black knit bodice/overcoat thingy; Black lace; Gold under the lace; Unknown brown/gold fabric
Senate Gown: Red velvet; Unknown red fabric, orange underdress; Cuff and collar beading; Unknown yellow fabric

Shaak Ti!
I'm happy to add another character to the site tonight: Shaak Ti! I love her costume and think she is one of the most interesting Jedi. Here are some new scans of her:

Dressing a Galaxy: Full-length, Detail << I love this one! Check out her nail polish!
Visual Dictionary: Full-length

Check out the entire page here! I've been working on this update since before I put up the current poll, but I am glad to see that many of you want to see more Jedi costumes!

Oscar Ads and shoes
I got in two more Oscar ads I bought from eBay! The first one we already had (but pretty small), so I'm happy to add it in high-res: Green Robe Oscar ad. The second one is brand new and features a bunch of other characters besides just Padme, including Apailana: Dressing Gown Oscar ad. I love Oscar ads in general, so Star Wars Oscar ads are just so much fun for me!

Also, I scanned in a section from Dressing a Galaxy that I had forgotten about: shoes! The pictures aren't great and unfortunately are just silhouettes, but they are better than nothing!
Wedding Dress shoe
Senate Address shoe
Senate Gown shoe
Pilot Disguise boot
Battle Dress boot

In addition to those, there were these two boots, labeled Padme Battle Boot A and B, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what costume they go to. They definitely aren't the Arena boot nor the Sleeveless Outfit's boot and the Battle Dress and Pilot Disguise are already accounted for, so I don't really know... Any ideas?

Also, a big thanks to Siyara Jinn for the adorable Valentine's Day banner. Isn't it cute? I'll be keeping it up for a few days. Thanks, Siyara, and Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

And the favorite hairstyle is...
The Meadow Picnic hairstyle!

With only a 4-vote margin, the Meadow Picnic hairstyle is the favorite Padme headdress/hairstyle! Second was the Tatooine Underdress, and the Dressing Gown defeated the Return Home Gown to come in third. The final tournament bracket with the full results can be found here! Thank you so much to everyone who voted in the Tournament! The only reason it was successful was because of all of you who took the time to vote and comment, so thank you! I hope you enjoyed it. Oh, and I made a little something to commemorate the end of this tournament: now that we know the favorite Padme gown and hairstyle, we can have the favorite Padme ensemble!

And since the Tournament is over, a regular poll has been added to the left side. Please vote as the results will help me decide which characters to add to the site next! And finally, I have three Padme promo pictures to add. The first is a better quality version of one of the Oscar ads, featuring the Revelation Gown. I bought the ad off eBay - so fun! Then I rescanned a Battle Dress promo - much better quality now - and I added a new Pilot Disguise promo. I have some cool updates I'm excited about planned for this week, so stop by again soon!

Fan art!
So after a long and tiring week of midterms and email issues, everything is back to normal. My midterms are done and my email is working normally again and I have a four day weekend! So I am very happy about that. But anyways, here's what's up with the site: TwinkleStarLeah made a great Valentine's-themed calender, and her site Twinkle Star Graphics, one of my affiliates, has a new address which I wanted to point out! Speaking of sites, Annarwaya, who is a talented artist and contributor to the site, has opened up her own portfolio. She has some beautiful work so be sure to stop by!

Also, sldaly was kind enough to send in a new Leia concept art. Very cool! And she also sent in this helpful picture of Delva Racine without her mask on. In the comments on the past update, there was some discussion about whether or not that character was played by Natalie Portman as a rumor says, but that proves it isn't her. Thanks, sldaly! Finally, this is the final weekend for Tournament Two! If you haven't voted yet, go vote now! The favorite Padme hairstyle will be announced on Monday!

Fan Art:
padme_anakinfangirl: Four great wallpapers (1, 2, 3, 4)

Aayla Secura and email woes...
Hello hello! This week has been entirely too stressful (I'll get to that in a bit), but I did manage to add a new character to the site: Aayla Secura! I love Jedi costumes (Shaak Ti, Luminara, etc) and will be adding more as time goes on! The Aayla page includes new pictures from Chronicles and Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith high-def screencaps:

Chronicles: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
High-Def screencaps: 1, 2, 3

There are tons of other pictures on the page itself so be sure to check them out! Also, I have Annarwaya's great new February calender. Thanks so much, Annarwaya! (Though I can't believe it's already February...) And also tonight, Starwarzy has finished up an awesome Padme project she was working on. Using the Padme paper dolls, photos, and original drawings, she collaged every Padme costume, including the Clone Wars. They came out great so I would highly suggest checking them all out here! These are my favorites:

Nightgown w/o robe, Water Gown, Return Home cloak, and Clone Wars Peacock

Thank you, Starwarzy! And lastly, it's been a busy enough week as it is for me with midterms and papers, but my email also stopped working correctly. I can't receive attachments right now, or even read messages that have attachments. I'm working with Yahoo customer service to fix it, but for now I've lost a bunch of email... If you've sent me an attachment in the past week or so, I don't have it unfortunately and you want to, you can send me another email with a link to your wallpaper/graphic/dolls hosted on another site (such as Imageshack or Photobucket). I'll hopefully have everything fixed soon though; I will let you know! Thanks for understanding and have a good weekend!
