Star Wars: Fit for a Queen

Revenge of the Sith: To meet both Obi-Wan and a group of senators in her apartment, Padmé chooses to wear an elegant green velvet robe. Both done in vivid purple, the thick sash around her waist and her ubiquitous insignia etched into the velvet add a striking color contrast to the gown. The wide silhouette of the full skirt is matched by a full hood on top, and the gown is completed by a jeweled brooch on the chest.

Design: A simple style done in rich fabrics, the Green Robe is one of Padmé's most popular Ep. III costumes. The beautiful velvet is green with a hint of bronze/brown coloration. To make the contrasting purple insignia that run up the robe, a process known as devore was used, which burned the pattern into the velvet. After all this careful construction, the costume was "irreparably damaged," according to the Official Site, when Natalie Portman got wet white paint on it during filming. The Costume Department was able to fix the robe enough for filming to continue, but apparently our dear Padmé is a bit clumsy!
