Star Wars: Fit for a Queen

Attack of the Clones: While sleeping at the retreat villa of Varykino, Padmé wears a light, strapless gown decorated with delicate embroidery. When she hears Anakin in the throes of a nightmare, she puts on a rich blue robe to go see him.

Design: The blue robe was created by the process known as smocking, a decorative type of needlework accomplished by stitching small regulary spaced gathers of fabric into honeycomb-type patterns. Twenty-five to thirty yards of material was used in the robe and it took three months to complete. The final robe was rather heavy and decorated with antique gold trim down the sleeves.
