Star Wars: Fit for a Queen

Revenge of the Sith: Padmé dons a heavy purple velvet cloak with a double yoke for a meeting with a group of anti-Palpatine senators, including Bail Organa and Mon Mothma. Not only is her intricately beaded and embroidered gown appropriate for the formality of the meeting, but the size of the cloak hides her pregnancy which is unknown to most senators.

Design: While the senators' meeting was cut from the movie, this costume still appears in one scene between Padmé and Anakin. And while that scene is an intimate moment in their home, this gown has a "ceremonial" feel to it, as Trisha Biggar says, as a result of the "formal quality" of the meeting scene. Biggar also employed many different types and techniques of embroidery for this costume, thanks to a "marvelous embroiderer," Sandra Faltin, whom Biggar first met while working on Episode II costumes.
